Tires! Your fleets second largest operating cost!

The highest of course is fuel and then followed by tires. Looking at all fleets nationwide, the top three reasons for breakdowns and out-of-service conditions are tires, brakes, and lights. Let us take charge of one these major cost areas with a professional approach to fleet tire maintenance.

Here at North State Bandag we realize that to maximize the effectiveness of sales, service and delivery operations, your vehicles need to stay on the road with minimum down time.

That's why it's our mission to provide you information that allows for a complete understanding of vehicle tire maintenance. Our tire management pros will come to your facility to analyze your tire program, inspect your vehicles and provide recommendations for the lowest operating cost through the longest life of your fleets tires.

Smart fleets always use a sound retreading program to stretch their maintenance budgets and to get the lowest possible cost per mile in their tire program. The conventional wisdom for fleets is to start with a high quality new tire as a foundation to build a strong, long-lasting structure and retread that casing multiple times, there by building on the value of the original asset. Replacing the tread on the original strong casing will cost less and most certainly drives down overall operating costs.

Air Pressure

A part of maintaining that investment is air pressure. Air pressure is critical in the life and performance of a tire. A tire that is 10 percent below recommended air pressure specification may wear at a 25 percent faster rate than a tire that is fully aired. Tires that are lower on air will have greater rolling resistance meaning more fuel burn. Expect immediate fuel savings of between 2 to 3 percent, just by maintaining air pressures in tires to specification. Low air costs you money in lower tire mileages, higher fuel consumption, and increased stress on the overall vehicle.
